An interesting headache?
At a recent congress I attended, there was a very clear and concise presentation on the
use of BoNT-A in migraine/headache. All the facts and figures were there about the studies performed, especially
the US PREEMPT package that gave the basis for licensing of chronic daily migraine by the FDA. There were,
however, a number of items “missing” from what was presented - especially data that should have been emphasised
or clarified more.
But perhaps the
most extraordinary part came at question time. The presenter was asked why patients treated aesthetically
complained of headaches afterwards, in some cases lasting for weeks. They replied by saying that they had
not heard of this before! How strange, given that this is one of the commonest side effects reported in
nearly all aesthetic trials and tests of the products.
